Passport 6 Month Rule for Madagascar eVisa
To obtain Madagascar eVisa having a valid passport is an important requirement. Remaining validity, blank pages and personal details in the passport must be checked by the applicant before applying.
How Much Passport Validity Is Required?
The ordinary passport must remain valid for atleast 6 months from the intended entry date in Madagascar.
The 6-month validity period does not start from the day the eVisa application is submitted or approved.
Does the Rule Depend on Length of Stay?
6 month passport validity rule applies even if the traveller is planning to stay for a short-period. Visa duration and passport validity are different requirements.
Short-stay duration does not reduce the passport validity requirement for entering the country.
When Should Applicants Renew Their Passport?
Travellers whose passport has already expired or is going to expire soon must first renew it before applying for the eVisa. Applications with invalid passport will not be accepted for processing.
Blank Pages Needed for Madagascar Entry
There must be atleast one blank page in the passport. If there is previous stamps or visas on the page it is not considered as a blank page.
Do children travelling with 1 parent need extra documents?
During the application process child’s passport is required. But depending on the circumstances additional documents such as parental consent letter, child birth certificate, relationship proof etc,may be requested by the authorities during application processing.
Details to Check in the eVisa Application
- Personal Information: Match full name, nationality and birth date against the passport.
- Passport Identification: Ensure there is no typing error while entering passport number.
- Validity Information: Expiry date and issuing country must match the passport details.
Why Matching Information Matters
The traveller may be denied entrying Madagascar if their is incorrect passport information on the approved eVisa. The issued eVisa contain passport information provided in the application form, so the applicant must check the information they provide in the application form before submitting it.
Note: The passport used for the application and the one that will be used for travelling must be the same.
If the Travel Dates Change
The new travel date must be within the approved eVisa validity period. Match passport expiry date against the new travel date. The passport must be valid for atleast 6 months from the new arrival date.
Can Madagascar eVisa Replace the Passport Requirements?
Traveller can only obtain Madagascar eVisa if they have a valid passport. The traveller is required to carry the approved eVisa digital copy and printed copy along with the original passport for travelling.
The immigration officer at the Madagascar border may ask traveller to present them.
